Two voters in Oniong West Ward 1 in the state's Onna Local Government Area suffered matchet cuts at the hands of hoodlums who are thought to be party supporters in Akwa Ibom State. They then stole one Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.
According to a source who asked to remain anonymous, the victims were being treated at an undisclosed hospital in the LGA after being rushed there.According to the source, "some thugs broke into units 11 and 12 at Oniong West Ward 1 in the state's Onna Local Government Area and hijacked one BVAS. Before running into the bush, they cut two of their victims with matchets. The Onna LGA hospital is where the victims are receiving medical attention.
However, Mr. Iniabasi Ekanem, the chairman of the Onna LGA, who confirmed the incident, stated that the security agencies were handling it.
We have a few minor issues, but how we handle them will ultimately determine how well. The security guards posted nearby assisted in calming the situation.
