#NigeriaElections2023: In Katsina, Atiku defeats Tinubu and Kwakwanso

 The Peoples Democratic Party's presidential candidate has been declared the victor of the general election held on Saturday in Katsina State, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.


The results of the exercise were released early on Monday morning by the state returning officer, Professor Muazu Abubakar Gusau. At 3.20 a.m., he made the announcement of the results. He stated that there were 1097663 accredited voters overall, compared to 3516719 registered voters.
Gusau provided information such as: The percentage of votes each of the 18 political parties who ran for office received in the polls.

The returning officer also revealed that votes were canceled due to overvoting, violence, thuggery, and insecurity in some areas of the state.

The affected areas, according to him included Baure (One polling unit); Danmusa( Two polling units); Daura ( One polling unit); Dutsinma ( One polling unit); Funtua (Three polling units); Kafur ( Twelve polling units); Kankara ( One polling unit); Katsina( Seven polling units); Kurfi (One polling unit) and Kusada ( One polling unit). 

Others were Maiadua ( One polling unit); Malumfashi ( Ten polling units); Mashi ( Ten polling units); Sabuwa ( One polling unit) and Safana ( Ten polling units).

Gusau gave the total number of registered voters whose elections were cancelled because of the reasons he earlier stated as 51310.
