The State Department said it had identified an unnamed key figure planning an interim government in the country.
The DSS called the plan a deviation and said it would undermine civil government and plunge the country into a preventable crisis.
These were announced in a statement by service spokesperson Peter Afunanya.
The statement was titled "DSS Confirms Caretaker Government Conspiracy by Misplaced Political Actors".

Afunanya said these political actors held several meetings that planned to sponsor violent protests in major cities across the country that would lead to the declaration of a state of emergency.
he said: Another is to obtain frivolous injunctions to block the formation of new executive and legislative branches at the federal and state levels.
“DSS endorses the commitments made by the President and Commander-in-Chief to a smooth handover and will continue to work in this direction consistently. We support them and will work with them and our sister security and law enforcement agencies to ensure a smooth launch on May 29, 2023.”
He called on those responsible for these plans to stop and called on law enforcement, civil society organizations and the media to take note of their antics. Afunanya added that his services will use legal means to ensure democratic stability in the country.

We will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal action against misguided elements and stop their malice."
