On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission filed an appeal against the decision allowing two plaintiffs to use their Temporary Voter IDs.
Rotimi Oyekanmi, the INEC Chairman's chief press secretary, announced the commission's plan to approach the appellate court in a statement on Thursday.
"The Independent National Electoral Commission has been served a copy of the judgment delivered today by the Federal High Court, Abuja Division which directed it to allow it to allow two Plaintiffs to vote with their TVCs," the statement stated.
After rendering judgment in a lawsuit brought by two concerned Nigerians asking for the use of TVCs in the general elections in the absence of PVCs, Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the decision permitting the use of the TVCs.
The order, according to Judge Egwuatu, was granted because the claimants had been properly registered and included in INEC's database.
The court did add that because the lawsuit was not brought in a representative capacity, it was not possible to fulfill prayer number three, which was to allow every qualified voter with a TVC to cast a ballot.
