How driver, house help killed Lagos couple with shoes, wood, pliers

Details about the death of an elderly couple from Lagos in Engr. Femi Egbeoluwa and his wife Funmi were murdered by domestic servants.

The driver of the couple, who were murdered at their home at 1 Adefold Drive on his Avenue Ikeja in Lagos last week, turned himself in to police.

The driver is said to have participated in the murder of a couple who were preparing to travel abroad on March 19 for Femi's routine medical check-up by doing housework.

After that, he is said to have gone into hiding. However, police said it was too early to identify him as a murder suspect until the investigation was completed.

However, a preliminary police investigation revealed that his £5,000 had been stolen for medical expenses for the deceased Femi.

A relative of his in Egbeoluwa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the driver turned himself in on Wednesday night.

The relative said, "He (the driver) went to his uncle's office first, but he didn't see anyone. He left and came back to the office in the evening, but the place was still there. It was locked. From there I went to the police station.

"My uncle and his wife, whom I affectionately called Baba and Mama, had no children because they were all grown up and lived in their own homes.

"Her son, who was supposed to take her to the airport last Sunday, came to her house and found her house in disarray.

"If he hadn't shown up that day, it might have taken him longer to find out what really happened.

"According to the information we gathered, the first person they attacked was Mom. They used Apollas (wedge shoes), wood, fists, and tongs on her.Bits were seen on the floor.

"They went upstairs to meet Baba, who was not very strong due to health problems. They also attacked one of the housekeepers, who was found unconscious on the ground. They thought she was dead and left. "When the maid first woke up from her coma, she muttered 'driver, driver' before relapsing.

"The building was cordoned off by the police. They said it was part of a forensic investigation.

“Baba was the former secretary of state of the Ogun state government. He and his wife lived a quiet life. All we want is a thorough murder investigation to track down the attacker. "

Lagos State Police spokesman SP Benjamin Hudenin, who was contacted, confirmed that the driver belongs to the Yaba State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.

He said: "He reported to the State Criminal Investigation Service on Thursday. However, we cannot yet identify him as a suspect as the investigation is ongoing.

"The injured maid is still being treated at the hospital."
