Idris Abubakar, a Chief Superintendent of Police, has been appointed as the 20th Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police by Usman Baba.
The appointment follows Idowu Owohunwa's transfer to the position of Commissioner of Police in charge of the Lagos State Police Command, which was previously held by the former PSO.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF's spokesperson, revealed in a statement on Friday.
Adejobi pointed out that the IGP has given the new PSO the responsibility of using his vast experience to improve daily operations at the IGP's office.CSP Abubakar, a member of Cadet Inspector Course 33 of the Nigeria Police Academy, has been admitted to the Nigerian Bar and holds a BSc in Political Science and an LLB in Law from the University of Maiduguri.
He has two master's degrees, one each in public administration and law. A number of local and international courses were also taken by him in Jos, Lagos, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Germany, France, Jordan, and India.
He belongs to the Nigeria Bar Association, the Commonwealth of Lawyers Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
In Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Edo, Lagos, and Force Headquarters, he has held a variety of administrative, investigative, and operational positions.
He held the positions of 2 i/c Police Mobile Force 5 Benin, Officer in Charge of the Borno Legal Department, Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 12 Bauchi and Divisional Police Officer Askira/Uba. He served as the IGP's Principal Officer II prior to his current assignment.
