The All Progressive Congress (APC) won 25 of the 27 seats in the state legislature in last Saturday's election in Imo.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the announcement in a statement signed by Ms Emmanuela Opala, Imo's voter education officer, and released to journalists in Owerri on Monday.
However, Opala said her polls were declared inconclusive in the constituency of Ahayz Mbaise province, but the results of the elections in Ys municipality are still pending, she said.
The statement revealed that APC candidates, including Eddie Obinna, won Abo Mbaise, Dominic Ezeriola won Ol West, and Ebony Ojioma won the Njaba constituency.
Another was Dur Iheonukara of the Ideato South. Chisom Ojukwu, Nkeerre; Chike Olemgbe, Ihitte Uboma; Reginald Ninelli, Ol East. And Ambrose Egg, Ngor Okpala. This includes Kanayo, a ridge town west of Owerri. Chinemetem Agbaso, Ezinihitte; Gilbert Nuwos, Oguta. Okechukeudeze, Ideato North and others
In response to the party's victory, APC state spokesman Duke Cajetan said Saturday's election was an implicit referendum on Gov. Hope Uzodima.
“The victory was big and overwhelming. I am pleased that the people of Imo have shown a positive attitude towards what Mr. Ouzodima has been doing over the past three and a half years during his tenure.
"They used polls to say thank you. Governor of the state's phenomenal infrastructure development.
"People didn't vote because they were forced to vote or because they thought about the events of February 25," he added.
Duke said their vote was eloquent testimony given as a blank check in deciding whether the governor would run for a second term.
However, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) called for the exercise to be stopped, alleging that the APC was involved in a large-scale operation in cooperation with INEC. In a statement signed Monday by state-run PDP spokesman Collins Oprozoll, the party said agents of the party were beaten and arrested at a collection center.
“According to the results announced at the various Aboh Mbaise polling stations, submitted to the iREV portal and transmitted by our agents, the PDP won his over 90% of the total votes, overwhelmingly the region's won a seat in parliament.
“However, while awaiting the final selection at the collation center, armed thugs, security guards and Evbeag militia officers, led by APC supporters, stormed the venue at midnight and attacked our party members. and kidnapped INEC officials with election materials.
“It is important to note that this farce could have been avoided if Aboh Mbaise, his INEC election chief, had not been corrupted and allowed the trial to be completed before dawn.” He said.
