Professor Akin Abayomi, Lagos State Health Commissioner, said 66 patients involved in the train-bus collision were treated and discharged from public health facilities in five states.
Abayomi made the announcement in an update on Wednesday's accident in Lagos.
The Nigerian News Agency reports that on March 10 and 12, the state discharged 53 of his patients involved in the accident from his three state hospitals.
According to him, after two successful sightings, no further fatalities have been recorded among the accident survivors. “A series of surgeries are being performed at LASUTH for patients who need surgery so that everyone can be discharged as soon as possible.
"Today, March 15th, the total number of hospitalized patients is 30.
“LASUTH has 26 patients, Odan-Lagos General Hospital has 2 and Gbagada General Hospital has 2 patients.
"The total number of passengers discharged to date is 66," he said.
Abayomi announced that the death toll from the accident remained at six, including two at the scene during resuscitation and four at LASUTH.
NAN reports that a He Lagos state government employee bus carrying police officers from Isolo to Alausa collided with a train at his PWD bus stop along Agege Motor Road. The bus had 85 passengers and 17 people involved in the accident, or 102 people on board.
Victims of the accident that occurred at 7:30 am on March 9 were taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment.
Survivors with injuries of varying severity and life-threatening conditions were hospitalized and treated at LASUTH.
His 25 patients with moderate injuries were then referred to three general hospitals and his Tollgate Trauma Center for further LASUTH treatment and decongestion.
