NDLEA seizes 228kg of cannabis, arrests suspect in Ondo

 The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency's Ondo State Command said on Thursday it seized 228 kilograms of cannabis sativa, also known as Indian hemp, in Ondo state and arrested one suspect.


Suspect Ayodel Osya was arrested for cannabis by DEA men in the state capital Acre.



The Agency's state commander, Kayode Raj, issued a statement at the headquarters of the agency in Acre.


According to the commander, the men of the Osya unit had been in pursuit for a long time.



He explained that Indian hemp was hidden in the cabins of Toyota Camry vehicles and said the cannabis was worth millions of Naira. He added that the arrest took place on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.


"We've been tracking him for a long time, but at one point we suspected him to be very suspicious and there were mostly rumors that he was being tracked, so we're keeping a low profile. .


"We used many characters and shadows to hide his identity, but at the end of the day, on March 29th, he was arrested in what is called the Quarterguard Area of ​​Acre here in Ondo Province.


"And the compressed cannabis carefully piled up in the car's cabin is about 309 compressed cannabis weighing about 228kg, which is a huge amount.


He said the proliferation of illicit drugs is "malignant and we should avoid it. So either out of state or out of business. "
