Ogun State police arrest man for impregnating 19-year-old daughter

Abeokuta, March 25, 2023 (NAN) Ogun State Police have announced the arrest of a 43-year-old man, Abiodun Oladapo, for impregnating his 19-year-old daughter (name not included).



State Police Public Affairs Officer (PPRO), Chief of Police (SP) Abimbola Oyemi, made the announcement in a statement released in Abeokuta on Saturday.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested on Friday after Oluwatoyin Idowu lodged a complaint with his Mowe Division headquarters.

According to Oyeyemi, Idowu was wrongfully accused of impregnating the victim by his son's girlfriend Michael Idowu, and a formal interrogation of her son found the victim was not telling the truth, according to Oyeyemi. reported.

Oyeyemi explained that the victim, who was already five months pregnant, had been invited and that her father was responsible for her pregnancy in December 2022, even though Michael Idowu had slept with her. He said he confided in the police. She further said her father had been sleeping with her since February 2022 and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it.

"According to the victim, when it turned out she was pregnant, her father asked her to lie to Michael Idow that he was responsible for her pregnancy.

"Following her confession, DPO Mowe Division, SP Folake Afenifro assigned detectives to track down Randy's father, after which he was arrested.

"During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime but said it was the devil's fault," he said.

Oyeyemi added that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who had long been separated from the victim's mother, took the girl in when her mother remarried and has been living with him ever since. Meanwhile, Ogun State Police Commissioner Frank Mba ordered the suspect transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.
