"We are here to protest, but unfortunately we were confronted by security guards sporadically firing into the air and trying to disperse us," Adebutu said.

The rejection of the election results also dominated the debate at his PDP's Kaduna state branch on Tuesday.

The party rejected the declaration of APC candidate Senator Uba Sani as governor-elect of Kaduna state.
