Trader sentenced to 3 years in prison for pouring hot water on neighbor

A district court in Acre sentenced 23-year-old merchant Bose Arowosegbe to three years in prison for pouring boiling water over his neighbor Imole Oluwajenyo.

The court found her guilty of her one count of assault against her, which was her priority, before convicting her.

Arowosegbe committed her offense at around 10 am on March 5 in her Sijuade neighborhood adjacent to her Sunbeth Hotel in Akure.

Lieutenant Taiwo Oniyere, a police prosecutor, said a prisoner poured hot water on her Oluwajenyo after the riot.

In his story, the victim said he was taken to a hospital for treatment. "After the incident, I went to the police station to lodge a complaint and she was arrested, but later released on administrative bail.

"When she returned from the train station, she was neither mortified nor sober. Instead, she posted on social media that she had left and returned.

"I was left in the hospital in pain and none of her family came to pay the bills, so all we need now is justice.

The Chief Justice of the Peace, O.L. Abu, said the applicant's injuries were serious. Abu says:

“After pleading guilty to committing the crime, the defendant is hereby convicted and sentenced to three years in prison or he will be sentenced to N500,000 in immediate damages to the victim.”
