According to a motorcyclist named Rasheed, police officers fired at Okada Ryder, but the bullet did not go through.

Okada's driver then reportedly hit the policeman back with a machete.

Mr Rasheed said:

"Police have long confused Okada drivers on the Apapa-Oshodi highway.

So today (Wednesday) some policemen took the boys out of the area and helped track down the cyclist. "Some of the Okada riders resisted with cutlasses and fought ferociously with local boys, resulting in police sporadically firing at the motorcycle riders.

"When the bullet failed to penetrate, one of Okada's drivers reportedly attacked a police officer with a machete."

When journalists arrived at the scene, they could not see the motorcyclist as everyone had fled the area after the incident.

Dealers who witnessed the incident claimed that the riders had objects such as cutlasses, sticks, and iron bars while fleeing police and area boys to avoid arrest.

All attempts to contact the Lagos State Police spokesman failed as his phone number was not available at the time of filing this report.
