Do not accept 'rotten' APC petition, Osun PDP tells IG

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has told the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to ignore petitions calling for the arrest of PDP leaders in the state from the `lazy` opposition All Progressives Congress.

The Osun PDP made this known in a statement made available to The reporter on Friday signed by its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle.

The PDP also warned the APC to desist from playing politics by “circumventing the will of the people,” which it described as lazy politics.

According to the statement, the PDP has asked the APC “to learn playing politics by the rules and not always scheming to circumvent the will of the people, warning that such habitual laziness and opportunistic tendencies will burst out of the roof and throw the country into flames.”

Continuing the ruling party noted that the APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, had been “pressurising the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba through thoughtless petitions aimed at turning Osun into a police state, to hound, harass and arrest innocent leaders of the PDP in the state, with the warped thought of avoiding another electoral defeat.

“PDP reckoned that such lazy audacity is dangerous in a determined society where people are poised to invest their electoral franchise in the PDP as the only political party walking the talks of their wellbeing as against the APC`s mantra of force of poverty to suppress and repress the people.

“We warn APC Secretary of State Iyiola Omisore and his fellow travelers to exercise restraint on this final trip and stop underestimating the power and determination of the good people of Osun State.

The PDP also said that harassing and intimidating civilians would only backfire on the opposition.

They also resisted pressure and asked IG to ignore all of his APC's accusations against the party, saying they were all lies.

“The PDP understands that IGP Babausman is under intense pressure to carry out indiscriminate harassment and arrests of PDP leaders ahead of the new scheduled parliamentary elections in Osun state. But we urge our Chiefs of Police not, at this time of our national life, to see through industrious and sinister schemes and be forced into a dangerous policy of tirelessly hunting down perceived political opponents.

“We are aware of the presence and location of a police team dispatched from Abuja to Osun State to carry out arbitrary arrests of PDP supporters in Osun, which are currently It airs at Ile-Ife's home in Omisore. Let them know that the people of Osun will resist all attempts to intimidate them or coerce them into submission. Denied, because they didn't, so the police should not be a tool for the failure of our country, especially Osun State.

“The IGP does a good job of cleaning up all the lies and baseless accusations pushed to the table by Omisore and other serial voter fraudsters. people's inevitable election verdict must be undermined and formally investigated," the statement said.

The party also urged President Muhammadu Buhari (a veteran) to “turn the searchlight on the APC's nefarious plan to use the police to disrupt the peace of the nation ahead of the upcoming elections.” I urged you to do so,” he added. Elections should not be wars for those who are accepted by the people.

Pointing out that the people of Osun should not be taken for granted, the PDP gives his IGP a proper inquiry into his APC, a "political warmonger from whom only violence and bloodshed survive" I requested.

The Party also called on the State Police Commissioners to demonstrate professionalism in their actions and activities.
