Before the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday, the Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has stated that it is not in any official discussions with the Labour Party about forming an alliance.
This information was released in a statement on Monday by Mr. Hakeem Amode, the Lagos PDP's publicity secretary. Amode argued that it was crucial to refute claims made by Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party candidate, that he had spoken with "the real owners of the PDP structure in Lagos State."
He asserted that no one could lay claim to the PDP's ownership structure and that the statement attributed to Rhodes-Vivour was disrespectful to the PDP.
The PDP is a legitimately democratic party, and Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), the party's governorship candidate, leads the state executive of the party, which is recognized by the national body as being in charge of the PDP.
Therefore, whoever Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is speaking to is only speaking for themselves and not the Lagos PDP, as there is currently no formal communication between the two parties.
Amode, who serves as the Jandor-Funke 2023 Campaign Council's Chairman of Media and Publicity, stated that Jandor has no plans to resign for any candidate.
He continued by saying it was untrue that Jandor would dismantle his organization in order to work for LP.
The PDP candidate, according to the spokesman, put a lot of effort into building his name recognition.
"We are taking this chance to appeal to the good citizens of Lagos and our thronging supporters to ensure that the decision of the people to ensure that Lagos breaks free will be respected and defended in the upcoming March 11 gubernatorial election.
"People who do not see such a great battle that must be won and cannot be subjected to social media cruise" cannot undermine the efforts to free Lagos from the current oligarchy government of the APC, he said.
Amode was responding to rumors that state opposition parties were preparing to form an alliance ahead of the election on Saturday.
