Police rescue 7 kidnapped children, arrest 3 suspects

 The Niger State Police Command has arrested three suspects for child abduction in the state's Suleja district.



A spokesman for the command, he said in a statement from DSP Wasiuwabiodun was provided to correspondents in Minna on Friday night and that the suspect was arrested in Abuja.


“Suspect – 20th January 2023 and he passed through Gwagwalada area of ​​FCT Abuja on 18th February 2023, in Tunga-Maje Savior Evka 20 years and Mary Peter 25 years.


He revealed that the suspect was involved in an incident last year that kidnapped her 3-year-old and her two brothers, 5, from his home in Sreja, Niger.


“Remember, on October 20, 2022, around 11:25 am, District B reported the kidnapping of his two children. Suleja said on 19 October 2022, around 21:00, two children, ages 5 and 3, went missing from the Suleja water supply area and were suspected to have been taken away by new tenants who had just moved. I was. connection.


Wasiu explained that after kidnapping the children, the suspect took them to an orphanage in Abuja, where he received some money.


"During interrogation, the Savior confessed to having conspired with the now fugitive Ifeoma and Patience to commit the act. Ifeoma agreed to pay him and Patience her N250,000 each, but she had only 'paid while he was still not there. paid.


He said that the children were kidnapped and taken to Ifeoma, the same address where there was an illegal orphanage called Home of the Famous Children, but Ifeoma later went to an unknown destination, where the children We passed them on to someone else.


Abiodun said the children were taken to another orphanage in Lugbe, Abuja, and were eventually rescued by police. “Police officers stepped up their investigation and later identified Chinwe Egu, 49, from Lugbe district of Abuja, as an illegal guardian of children.


“The team proceeded to Lugbe, where Chinwe was in charge of a delightful orphanage where he was arrested on March 13, 2023 and seven children, including two children Abdullahi Umal, who were allegedly kidnapped, were rescued. It turned out to be: 5 years and Rahamat Umar, 3 years.


A police spokesman added that his five other children who were rescued along with two siblings have been handed over to the FCT's social services department.


“Five of the seven rescued children were immediately handed over to his FCT social department. Three other children were also rescued from Chinwe based on their confessions. He further said efforts were being made to arrest other suspects on a large scale.


“Efforts are being made to arrest the named Ifeoma and Patience as the investigation into the case, and the suspects arrested so far will be charged accordingly once the investigation is completed.”
