Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate Michael Rana for governor of Oyo has resigned as Governor Sayyi Makinde of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
He is the first of all gubernatorial candidates to make such a public statement in Saturday's gubernatorial and general elections.
He recalled that some party leaders, including state officials and other interest groups, last week expressed support for All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Senator Teslim Foralin.
At a briefing in Ibadan on Tuesday, Rana said several party leaders had sold themselves for pittance and declared for the opposition without the consent of other party stakeholders. bottom.
He said that as a result of the actions, other stakeholders decided to make decisions that were in the best interests of neglected and distressed party members, candidates, and Oyo residents. He concluded that after several rounds of consultation, party stakeholders had decided to work with the PDP's Makinde.
According to him:
"Governor Sayy Makinde needs the help of all capable hands, both inside and outside of our state, to make his dreams come true for our state, and we have decided to help him. .
“Therefore, we have decided to inform a large number of supporters on behalf of Mr. I want you to be elected governor."
