Tinubu expresses sadness for Victims Of the Lagos Bus-Train Crash. The accident involving a train and a transit bus that happened in the Ikeja neighborhood of Lagos State on Thursday morning has been apologized for by the incoming president, Bola Tinubu, to the victims and their families.

Tinubu said he is praying for everyone, including those who died and those who were injured in the tragic and unfortunate incident, in a statement released by the office of the President-elect and signed by Tunde Rahman. Additionally, he expressed his condolences to the Lagos State Government and promised to keep an eye on emergency response efforts and provide assistance as needed.

At the PWD Bus Stop, a moving train struck a bus carrying civil servants to work.

At the time of publication, over 82 people had been injured and were being treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, while six people had already been confirmed dead by emergency personnel. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reported that two people perished at the scene of the accident and four more perished in the hospital after visiting the facility. 85 passengers, including 42 cases of moderate injuries, 29 cases of severe injuries, and 8 cases of mild injuries, were all involved, according to him.

Although the bus involved in the collision is the same as the state's standard BRT buses, according to Adebayo Taofiq, spokesman for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the bus was a staff bus of the Lagos State Government.

Additionally, a train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the State Government staff bus on its rail as it attempted to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing, according to Nosa Okunbor, a spokesman for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
