Violence disrupts Governorship/Assembly polls in Jigawa

Massive violence has been reported from many parts of Jigawa in the ongoing gubernatorial/regular elections.

Many ballot boxes were reportedly damaged and some burned across the state.

Affected areas include Kiyawah, Yankwasi, Birningkudu and Bhuj counties.

However, a spokesman for Jigawa Police said he contacted DSP's Lawal Shi'isu Adam, who said there had been no progress.

He said:
"There are no such reports yet. As far as we are concerned, the exercises are free and peaceful. ”
